RADIO-THON ACHIEVES FUNDRAISING GOAL

Difficult economic circumstances didn’t deter the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way from achieving their Radio-thon goal last Thursday. The event, which is held annually as part of the Fundraising Campaign registered $11,200 in donations. The total exceeded this year’s established goal of $10,000.

The Franklin-Grand Isle United Way staff, board of directors, and Radio-thon volunteers want to express their gratitude to the many local businesses who sponsored the event and those that generously donated auction items. There was a terrific response from individuals that bid on items throughout the day. This also was the first year in which individuals could bid either on-line or use the traditional method of calling by telephone.

In addition to the 245 auction items, ‘Deeds for Dough’ activities also contributed to the donation total for the day. The event also featured interviews with representatives from many of the member agencies that provide much needed health and human services to local residents throughout the year.

Agnes Masson, Radio-thon Committee Chair and Sally Bortz, FGI United Way Administrative Coordinator were the driving forces behind the planning and implementation of this well run event. The Franklin Grand Isle United Way Campaign continues throughout the holiday season. Anyone wishing to make a donation can send their contribution to the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way, PO Box 387, St. Albans, VT 05478.
