The Franklin-Grand Isle United Way is a voluntary human service organization focused on building community resources and problem solving. With its volunteer Board of Directors made up of a diverse group of nearly 30 local citizens, it works to see that much-needed health and human service programs are delivered efficiently and effectively in the two-county region.
Addressing the local needs of a community is no longer just a matter of dollars; it is about leveraging those dollars to mobilize the caring power of that community. Our United Way does this by building on community assets, identifying needs, raising awareness, encouraging volunteerism, providing leadership training, and allocating funds to programs which meet high performance standards.

| What We Do |
|
We collaborate with other community organizations, partner with businesses, team with service delivery agencies, and join forces with dedicated leaders and volunteers. Together we solve community needs that affect families, and children and assure a viable community-wide, human-services infrastructure.
We mobilize the community to provide the financial and non-monetary resources needed to build a better community. Through a single community-wide fund drive, United Way raises resources that are invested in programs that address this community's most pressing needs. We actively work with local agencies to implement innovative and effective programs. We measure the impact of these programs by how well they solve problems, improve lives and provide feed back for continuous improvement. The outcome is a better community.

| Our History |
|
The Franklin County United Way was established in April of 1979. In August of 1989, Grand Isle County was welcomed and the organization's name officially became the Franklin-Grand Isle United Way. The organization currently raises $500,000+ annually to support community needs.
While most programs are delivered through public and private organizations, the United Way also coordinates services, supports fundraising efforts on behalf of member agencies, provides technical assistance to agencies in need, and works with hundreds of volunteers to improve the quality of life in Franklin and Grand Isle counties.
